We Are [Not] fun..
So apparently the band that decided to name their band fun., is anything but that.
As Spin reports:
fun., whose chart-topping “We Are Young” has been parodied only about a bazillion times, wants you to know they are not amused by your shenanigans.
“I’m not going to go Coolio on the situation and say I’m not into parodies, but I’m going to say, chances are, it’s not funny,” frontman Nate Ruess told MTV. “Maybe I have a high standard for what’s funny, but I’m just going to go with ‘We Are Not Young,’ [and] you probably are not funny.” You hear that, Hunger Games guy?
So these guys seem like a bag of laughs.
Honestly fun., what the fuck. did you think was going to happen? You think you can just write a song about being young (although in your 30′s) setting shit on fire and no one’s going to bat an eyelash? Welcome to the internet.
Get over this whole “my music is my art” bullshit. You wrote a corny ass song and fooled some college kids in the process. Kudos to you. Now deal with the repercussions of your actions.
Look at Antoine Dobson. LOOK AT HIM!
You think he bitched when a couple of white kids parodied his rant? Nope, this dude[?] just counted his money all the way to the bank.
You could learn a thing or two from Antoine Dobson, fun.. In fact we all could.

Ok I really don’t want to be rude but I love fun. You really can’t rant on them because they don’t like a parody of their song. Put yourself in that situation. Yes they probably saw that coming but still it took work to make that song. No it’s not corny and the 30s are NOT that old. You should listen to their other songs and look into them before you hate on them. If you dont like them that’s fine. Just don’t be talking bad about them just cuz this random YouTube star became famous for a rant. Not all people like their parodies about them.
Jordyn, I think you got me all wrong. I LOVE fun. Who doesn’t love fun? But I hate fun.. And I’ve known Nate from The Format days so its not some blind hate. I still think 30 is a little old to be singing songs about being carried home and lighting shit on fire. Most people are maturing at 30,. Listen to a song like “I was a Teenage Anarchist” from Against Me! after recording “Baby, I’m an Anarchist.”. That is a band maturing. fun. just cashed in on the teenage young 20 something’s mindset where getting hammered is still cool and you have your whole life ahead of you. Unfortunately at 30, getting hammered isn’t cute anymore, and of you light shit on fire, your going to jail.
Not to mention “fun.” rips the exact words from Against Me!’s “Teenage Anarchist”.
Wow I’ve never met someone with such horrible taste. What’s so bad. OMG THEY SAID THEIR YOUNG AND SET STUFF ON FIRE THIER SSSOOO BAD!! This band deserves way more credit. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without them. Passion is what their music is. And your the corny one. Your just a hater man. Funny… If this site was popular, they mite actually see this.
