“Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pianist’s Life For Me!”
Anyone catch the Grammy’s last night? Ok, maybe a stupid question, but I would have answered “No”. In the age of YouTube, I find watching any award show quite the waste of time. Approximately 89% of the reason we watch is for the performances. Why sit around and wait three hours to see a lip-synced concert when I can merely pull the content on the Tube the next day.
So I’m sure most people caught the reunited Beach Boys singing and hugging M5 and FTP while performing the band’s classic “Good Vibrations.” Although it was nice to see the Boys back together, they all did seem a little stiff, especially Brian Wilson, who was the most amusing of the group.
Wilson’s body remained still throughout the reunion, with the only movement coming from his head, eyes, and mouth. It look as if the creative force behind the Beach Boys drew inspiration for his performance from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride. I couldn’t help but laugh throughout the clip as it looked almost as if Walt Disney came out of “frozen retirement” to program Wilson himself. I’ve attached both video performances for you to draw your own conclusions from. Enjoy!

UPDATE: How are you going to tell me that Brian Wilson and Flute Pirate don’t look identical in the video preview images? You can’t.
