“Please get traded to Nets. Please get traded to the Nets.”
The NBA finally opens its doors on Christmas Day to start their regular season; if you’re like me you probably think their season is as boring as a Broadway Play. Now I’m not here to bash the NBA, but rather give some incentive to fellow sports enthusiasts who are looking for something to root for on a random winter night. So if you have $40 listen up, we’re going to look at 4 NBA Future Bets that will be sure to get your basketball blood flowing.
1. Kevin Durant to win NBA MVP 4/1 . $10 to win $40.
If the Thunder can snag a top 3 seed in the Western Conference I think it’s a slam dunk; the team brings back its entire team, which the NFL showed is a huge advantage after a lockout, so it’s not out of the question. LeBron James is listed as the favorite, I can’t see him winning unless the Heat dominate the regular season or he puts up some crazy numbers. His other competition is Derrick Rose – he’d have to put up better numbers than last year to win again- and Chris Paul – intriguing but can they win enough? At 4/1 odds it’s perfect for our situation, if you win this bet you’ve already come out ahead.
2. LeBron James to Lead the League in Assists per Game 12/1. $10 to win $120.
As stated in the previous paragraph if James puts up some crazy numbers he’ll win MVP, this would fall in that category so would you rather bet him to win MVP at 3/1 odds or this bad boy at 12/1. I thought so. The League leader had 11.4 apg last year James had 7.0, can he add a little more than 4 per game? Probably not but the reason we’re doing this is to spice things up. On the flip side he put up those numbers with a team that had a lot of moving parts and didn’t mesh until mid-season, I’d have to think his numbers increased this year hopefully they go up enough to win us some money.
3. Tyson Chandler to Lead the League in Rebounds per Game 20/1. $10 to win $200.
He’s a big man in an up-tempo offense, is limited offensively, and prides himself on being a good defender. That tells us he’s going to be around the rim on every possession in games that will feature extra possessions, seems like a good value play. His fellow big man, Amare Stoudemire, isn’t a good rebounder therefore it will be vital for Chandler to wreak havoc on the boards. The only downfall is health, if he stays healthy I have no doubt he’ll average double-digits which will put him in the race and that’s all we can ask for.
4. New Jersey Nets to Win the Eastern Conference 20/1. $10 to win $200.
Basically we’re betting Dwight Howard gets traded to the Nets, if he does then we’re once again in the hunt for a nice pay day. Teaming Howard with Deron Williams it can be kryptonite for the Miami Heat, the downfall is will they have to give up too much in order to get Howard.
There you have it you can either use this information and try and win cash or be the one who says “I almost bet that back in December, I would’ve won this much.” Don’t be that guy.
When can we lock up some bets?
